 About me

Hi, my name is Larry (Sichen) Lyu . I'm a fifth-year Linguistics PhD student at UC Santa Cruz. I specialize in phonetics, phonology, and their interface. My latest preoccupation is with the phonological representation of fricative vowels.

I'm active (but hoping to be more active) in language preservation and revitalization. Being myself a speaker of an endangered language, I'm very concerned about the rapid yet quiet decline of languages deprived of socio-cultural prestiege. (sample project)
